Our Christmas Message

We would like to wish Happy Christmas and a wonderful new year to all of our readers.

Wow what a year!
It would be amazing to write this newsletter in high spirits but even though we can all travel again, the year has presented many banana skins along the way.

First, we expected a rush of bookings once lock down was over but were faced was chaos at the airports. After this confidence grew again but the prices of flights rose dramatically which created a knock on of people delaying their trips. Then came the implications in relation to the Ukraine war with high inflation and the increased cost of living. Then the icing on the cake recently has been soaring energy prices and very cold weather. So, all in all none of us have really had a break of it this year.

When times are tough holidays, going out and family treats get pushed back. So in line with the Christmas spirit, we would like to offer anyone that books a golf holiday with us from now until the end of January, a 10% seasonal discount.

3 Festivals to look forward to in 2023

Khmer New Year

April 14 – 16th
The Cambodian New Year, celebrated from April 14 to 16, is also known as the Khmer New Year. This is because the holiday is celebrated with a bang by the Khmer people of Cambodia. This occasion is flooded with celebrations, fireworks, parties, and a lot of fun! And it coincides with the traditional solar new year in several parts of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand.

Songkran – Water Festival – Thai New Year

April 13th -14th
The annual Songkran New Year Water Festival which welcomes the traditional Thai New Year is one of those events that has to be experienced in person to begin to appreciate the enormity of the spectacle and the uniqueness of the occasion. In Thailand, Songkran is an annual nationwide party with playful water fights breaking out in villages and cities the length and breadth of the country. Whilst it’s the water fights and party atmosphere that understandably captures the imagination of most tourists, there is so much more to the festivities.

Loy Krathong Festival Thailand
Lantern Festival Thailand

Loy Krathong & Yi Peng Lantern Festival

November 7th – 9th,
Loy Krathong and Yi Peng occur simultaneously across northern Thailand, Chiang Mai has gained a reputation with the festivals. The celebration of Loy Krathong is probably the most lovely and enchanting in Thailand. Krathong is small rafts or baskets, whereas the term Loy (or Loi) means to float. The Krathong, which is often made from banana leaves or the bark of a banana tree, usually includes a candle, incense, and flowers. The candle and incense are then lit and a wish is made before the Krathong is placed on the nearest stretch of water. It is believed that the Krathong carries away bad luck and signals a fresh start.

Yi Peng, often called Yee Peng, is a celebration that only occurs in northern Thailand and is closely associated with the former Lanna kingdom. It was traditionally celebrated to end of the monsoon season and the beginning of the cool season. Thai people release lanterns into the air at Yi Peng Lantern Festival. It is celebrated in northern Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai.

Travel with an independent company.
Forget the mass brands and travel with an independent English run travel company. Not only do you book and travel with the same company, which is not as common as you may think. There is also no middleman taking their cut; meaning a holiday with us is extremely good value for money.
